Embed a single Telegram post with Telegram's official widget, show your channel on a website in ways that actually bring subscribers, and fix embeds that do not appear.
To embed a single post, open the post's t.me link in a web browser, click Embed, choose the options and paste the code Telegram gives you into your page's HTML. This works for posts from public channels and public groups. Telegram does not offer an official widget that shows a whole channel's live feed, so for a channel you combine a join button, selected post embeds and, if you need a live feed, a small setup of your own.
This guide covers the post widget step by step, how to add it on common website platforms, the ways to present a whole channel, privacy and performance points, and fixes for embeds that show up blank.
Check four things first. Each one is a common reason an embed fails later.
Telegram provides an official post widget. You paste a small snippet into your page. When a visitor opens the page, the snippet loads Telegram's widget script, which draws the post inside a frame on your page.
What the embedded post shows:
Because the widget loads the post from Telegram each time:
The link looks like t.me followed by the channel's username and the post's number. If what you copied contains "c/" and a long number instead of a username, the chat is private and the widget will not work.
Paste the link into a browser on a computer. Telegram opens a web page showing the post, with buttons to view it in Telegram.
On that page, Telegram offers an Embed button. Click it to open the embed options.
Telegram's configuration lets you adjust how the post appears. Options include the width of the widget, whether to show the author's photo, and colour choices including a dark theme. The preview updates as you change them. Pick what fits your site's design. If your site has both light and dark modes, test the embed in each and choose colour options that read well against both backgrounds.
Telegram shows the snippet for your choices. Copy all of it. It contains a script tag pointing to Telegram's widget script, plus attributes naming the post (in the form username/post-number) and your chosen options.
Paste the snippet into a custom HTML area on your page, exactly where you want the post to appear. Save or publish, then open the live page to check it.
If you embed several posts on one page, each needs its own snippet. Telegram's script handles several on the same page.
An embed is a sample of your channel shown to someone who has not joined yet. Choose posts with that reader in mind.
The widget works for any public post, not just your own. A blog writing about a news event might embed the original announcement from an organisation's channel, for example.
A few points of good practice:
Every platform handles custom code differently. These are the usual approaches; your platform's help pages are the authority.
Some security settings, plugins or user roles strip scripts from content. If the embed vanishes after saving, check that your account role is allowed to add unfiltered HTML, or ask your site administrator. Plugins also exist that turn a pasted Telegram link into an embed automatically. If you install one, check that it is maintained and from a developer you trust, as with any plugin.
Most hosted website builders have an "Embed", "HTML" or "Code" element.
Some builders only allow custom scripts on certain plans, or show embedded code only on the published site, not in the editor. If nothing appears, check those two things first.
Paste the snippet into the page's HTML where the post should appear. Nothing else is required.
On sites built with frameworks that render pages in the browser, pasting the snippet into a component often does nothing. Browsers do not run a script tag that is inserted as text into an already loaded page. Developers report that the fix is to create the script element with JavaScript and append it to the container element, so the browser loads and runs it. If you use such a framework, ask whoever maintains the site to add the embed this way.
Email programs do not run scripts, so the widget cannot work in an email. Instead, include a short quote or an image of the post, with a link to the post on Telegram. Our guide on moving a newsletter audience to Telegram has more on linking the two.
The widget sits in a frame. Set the width option to suit your content column. On narrow phone screens it shrinks to fit. Give it some space above and below so it does not collide with surrounding text.
You can choose a dark theme and accent colours in the embed options. You cannot restyle the inside of the frame with your own CSS, because it is drawn by Telegram. If exact styling matters more than live updates, a screenshot with a link is the alternative.
Each embed loads content from Telegram. A page with many embeds loads more slowly, especially on phones. For a page showcasing many posts, consider embedding a few and linking the rest.
Telegram does not provide an official widget that shows a channel's latest posts as a live feed. That surprises many site owners. Here are the realistic options, from simplest to most involved.
For most sites, this brings more subscribers than any feed. A feed shows content; a button asks for the action you want.
For tracking, create a separate invite link just for your website, so you can see how many people joined through it. Our invite links guide shows how.
For pages viewed on desktop, a QR code next to the button lets visitors scan and join on their phone. See our guide to Telegram channel QR codes.
Pick three to five posts that show what your channel is like at its best, and embed them on a page such as "Our Telegram channel". Visitors see real examples, and each embed links back to the channel.
Refresh the selection every month or two. Old posts about expired offers or past events make the channel look stale.
If you need the newest posts to appear on your site automatically, you need a small technical setup, usually built by a developer. There are two common approaches.
A bot added as admin should have only the rights it needs. If someone else builds this, never give them your login code or password; they only need a bot token for a bot you control. Our guide on creating a bot with BotFather covers the bot side.
Some site owners pull a channel's posts into an RSS feed and display it with their website's feed tools. Our guide to Telegram channel RSS feeds explains the options and their limits.
Various services offer channel widgets. Before using one, check what it needs. A service that asks you to log in with your Telegram account, or to send it a login code, can take over your account. A service that only needs your public channel's username is lower risk, but you depend on it staying online and on how it treats your visitors' data.
Telegram's developer pages list a few other widgets that are useful on websites:
Each has its own setup instructions in Telegram's developer documentation.
When a visitor loads a page with a Telegram embed, their browser connects to Telegram's servers. Telegram can see the visitor's IP address and the page they are on, as with any third-party embed. If your site serves visitors in regions with strict privacy rules, consider:
This is general information. Check the rules that apply to your site.
A click-to-load placeholder is a common way to respect privacy choices and keep pages fast. The idea is simple, though it needs someone comfortable with basic web development.
The page loads without any connection to Telegram until the visitor chooses. Many consent tools offer this pattern for embeds generally, so check whether yours can do it before building it yourself.
The widget script and the content load from Telegram. On a slow connection, or where Telegram is slow or blocked, embeds can appear late or not at all. To limit the impact:
Embedded frames can be awkward for screen reader users. Introduce each embed with a sentence of your own saying what it is, for example "Our latest post on Telegram, about the spring timetable". Use descriptive link text such as "Join our Telegram channel", not "click here".
An embedded post is drawn inside a frame loaded from Telegram. Search engines generally treat that content as belonging to Telegram, not to your page. So an embed does not add the post's words to your page's content for search purposes.
If a post's content matters for your page, write your own summary or commentary in the page itself, and use the embed as a supporting example. Within Telegram, embeds do not change how your channel ranks in Telegram's own search. Our guide to ranking in Telegram search covers what does.
An embed is only worth keeping if it brings readers. Measure it:
If your channel is listed on TGDirectory, its page there shows measured subscribers, views per post and a growth chart once enough daily data exists. Watching that over the same period gives you a second view of whether website traffic is adding up. You can submit your channel free if it is not listed yet.
This is an illustrative setup. A bakery's website has a news page and a footer.
After a month, the owner checks how many people joined through the website invite link, and moves the button higher on the news page to see whether that number changes.
Embeds tend to break quietly, months after they were added. A short routine every few months prevents a page full of empty boxes.
If you keep a list of where embeds live, this takes minutes rather than an afternoon of hunting.
Regenerate the code with a different width setting, or put the embed in a container with the width you want on your page.
Some media types play only inside Telegram, or need the visitor to tap through. Make sure the post's link to Telegram is visible so visitors can open it there.
Check the page on a phone with any content blockers turned off, and check that the embed's container is not hidden or squeezed by your mobile layout. Some themes hide custom HTML blocks on small screens by default. If the frame is present but blank, the visitor's network may be blocking Telegram, so make sure the fallback link is visible.
No. The post widget only works for public channels and public groups. For a private channel, link to it with an invite link instead, and describe what members get.
No. Telegram's official widget embeds individual posts. For a live feed, you need a bot or other setup that collects new posts and displays them, or you embed a selection of posts manually.
Yes. The widget loads the post from Telegram each time, so edits appear. If you delete the post, the embed stops showing it.
Telegram does not document in detail how widget views are counted. Do not rely on embeds to raise view counts; measure joins through a website-only invite link instead.
Yes. Posts from public groups can be embedded the same way as channel posts, using the message's t.me link.
Only through the options Telegram offers, such as dark theme and colours. The inside of the frame is drawn by Telegram, so your own styles do not apply to it.
To embed a Telegram post, copy its link, open it in a browser, click Embed, choose width and colour options and paste the snippet into a custom HTML area on your page. It works only for public channels and groups, updates when you edit the post and breaks if you delete it. There is no official whole-channel feed widget, so promote a channel with a clear join button, a QR code and a few curated post embeds, or build a bot-based feed if you need live updates. Mention embeds in your privacy policy, add a fallback link, write your own text for search engines, and measure joins with a website-only invite link.
